PTO Meeting Minutes November 3, 2016 @ 6:30 GUEST SPEAKER Samantha Watson, a parent of a preschooler and soon to be Beeman parent has been attending city meetings regarding the upkeep and possible rebuilding of Gloucester elementary schools. She reported that the East Gloucester/Veteran’s school rebuild/feasibility study is due in January. After that decision has been made it will open up the possibility of other district school(s) being rebuilt in the future. She is very educated on this subject (funding options, processes, etc.) and would like to attend future PTO meetings in order to keep us up to date on what she’s learning and what we can do as a Beeman community to make sure we are included in future planning (attending meetings, etc.), We will revisit this in January’s or February’s meeting. In the meantime, please check out Samantha’s Facebook page, “Advocates for the Future of Gloucester Schools”. MINUTES FROM PREVIOUS MEETING: Neyla Bajoras motioned to accept the minutes, seconded by Amy Racofskty. TREASURER’S REPORT: Trees for the fair and fall library books have been ordered. Teacher requests for funds were approved for Caitlin Driscoll, Leslie Guthrie and Yvonne Leblanc (enrichment event). Julie Broe motioned to accept the treasurer’s report, seconded by Josie Martell. It’s time to start collecting items for the Holiday Store as well; please keep this in mind as you are fall cleaning. A box will be set up in the lobby for items you would like to donate. Please keep in mind that we are always in desperate need of men’s items! This year the Holiday Store days are 12/12-14 and we will be setting up the weekend before. Melanie LoGrasso is the point person this year but many volunteers are needed! Please keep your eye out for flyers in the next few weeks and contact beemanpto@gmail.com with any questions.
HOLIDAY FAIR Our biggest fundraiser, the annual Holiday Fair, will soon be here and we will be having a planning meeting on Wednesday, 11/16 @ 6:30 (location unknown at this time). This year the fair will be on Saturday, 12/3 from 9am-1pm. Please respond to this email if you plan to attend the meeting. LIBRARY Serena Low has purged 15 boxes of books, the space has been reconfigured, donations have been sorted and spine labeling is still being done.
